Flamboyant nain, (Pithecellobium dulce), Introduced from Asia, commonly grown on lowlands, especially in hotel grounds and in gardens.

Several horticultural varieties of "Vielle fille", lantana camara, are grown in the Mascarenes. This beautiful low shrub also reaches invasive proportions in some parts of the Mascarenes, especially on Rodrigues. A large plethora of flower colours have been created through selection.

Canna sp., introduced from India, is grown in public places such as round abouts, gardens and in the grounds of several public buildings. It is easily recognised by its attractive bunch of flowers, usually yellow with red speckles.

Bougainvillea sp., grows at all altitudes producing flowers ranging from white to red through pink. Commonly grown in hotels, roadsides and public places. Introduced from South America.

Mauritius is one of the leading exporters of Anthurium, which is grown in shade houses throughout Mauritius. A wide range of flower size, shape and colours have been grown on Mauritius to cater for the whims of international flower lovers.
